Position Summary 

We are seeking licensed Security Guards to join our team at a construction site in Canmore, Alberta. The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by protecting site equipment and materials, controlling access, conducting patrols, and responding to safety or security concerns. This role requires professionalism, vigilance, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Control site access: verify credentials, sign in visitors and contractors, maintain visitor logs. 

  • Conduct regular patrols of the site, buildings, and perimeter. 

  • Monitor for theft, vandalism, trespassing, hazards, or security breaches. 

  • Enforce site safety rules and ensure proper use of PPE. 

  • Protect construction materials, equipment, and tools from unauthorized removal. 

  • Complete daily activity logs and write detailed incident reports. 

  • Respond to emergencies (fire, medical, security incidents) and coordinate with emergency services. 

  • Maintain a professional appearance and strong security presence at all times. 

 

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Valid Alberta Security Guard License (mandatory). 

  • Previous construction site security or access control experience is an asset. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required. 

  • Physically able to stand, walk patrols, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. 

  • First Aid/CPR certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain). 

  • High vigilance, reliability, integrity, and ability to respond calmly under pressure. 

  • Knowledge of construction site safety practices is an asset. 

  • Reliable transportation to Canmore is required. 

 

  Shift Schedule  

  • Evening Shift: 5:00 PM – 12:00 AM, Monday – Friday (7 hours) 

  • Night Shift: 12:00 AM – 7:00 AM, Monday – Friday (7 hours) 

  • Weekend Shift: Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12 hours) 

    Applicants should be flexible and available for assigned shifts. 

 

Working Conditions 

  • Outdoor construction site environment. 

  • Exposure to cold weather, snow, rain, noise, heavy equipment, dust, and uneven terrain. 

  • Combination of gate access control and mobile patrol duties.

  • Competitive hourly wage (based on experience).
