XA Community Safety PatrolA resident-led initiative · Calgary
Your neighbourhood is hiring its own night patrol. A marked vehicle, guards who know these streets, funded by the households of Upper Mount Royal together. Founding homes pay $98 a month, locked through 2027: about what an alarm company charges to phone you back.
The patrol launches when the neighbourhood does.
The patrol launches when the neighbourhood does. Nothing is charged until it's on the road.
How this started
"I live in a neighbourhood that seemingly has a lot of break-ins. Weekly, almost. The police had the chopper. Dozens of cars. Dogs. People on foot. Trying to find them."
Shawn, Mount Royal resident, reporting on a Friday morning break-in.
Helicopters and dogs arrived after the break-in. Shawn asked a better question: what if someone was already here? He thought his neighbours would pay for a real answer if it was reasonable. This page is that answer. It launches only if the neighbourhood agrees with him.

Every night. Even when it feels quiet.
Patrol 6: electric, marked, and quiet. A uniformed guard, our streets.

The attack surface isn't the front door.
Rear laneways, side gates, and back fences. Patrolled.
How this works, in plain English
Homes in Upper Mount Royal add their name. No card, no charge, no commitment beyond your word.
A marked car on our streets every night, 7 pm to 7 am, targeting an October 1st start. Billing only begins at launch: $98 a month.
Every home that joins after launch buys the whole street more patrol time, growing toward 24/7.
$199 a month: your guard knows your home and your alarm calls us first. 50 homes per route; the first 25 lock founding pricing.
Twelve of those were somebody's home broken into. Another 18 were somebody's car broken into. That's a property crime on our streets every 6 days. Not a spike. Not a trend. Just Tuesday.

At 125 households the patrol launches: every night, 7 pm to 7 am, the window when nearly all of it happens. Every household that signs on after that buys the whole street more hours. Your neighbour joining is not their business. It's your coverage.

We publish the math instead of hiding it. One vehicle and one guard cost what they cost; the neighbourhood decides how many hours they run.
You never wonder whether the patrol actually came. Every Monday, your digest lands with every GPS-timestamped pass at your address, anything the guard found, and photos when something needed documenting. Written by the guard who walked it, in plain English.

Guard's note, Thu 1:38 AM
Side gate to the laneway was sitting open. I closed and latched it, checked the yard and rear windows, and photographed both. No signs of anyone having been in. Worth a look at the latch; it doesn't catch on the first push.

First 125 households lock $98 a month through 2027. Month-to-month, no long contract, no charge until the vehicle is on the road. Less than most of the street pays for an alarm nobody answers.
The light left on for the whole street. A marked vehicle on our streets every night, and a person who comes when something happens.
$98/mo
Founding rate · $119/mo after the first 125 households
Your guard knows your home the way a neighbour would. Capped so the promise stays physically true.
$199/mo
Founding rate · $249/mo once the founding 25 seats are gone
Why cap Concierge? Everyone gets the patrol; Concierge is the high-touch layer on top, capped at 50 homes per patrol route no matter how large the membership grows. One guard can only know so many homes by heart and honour so many first-call response guarantees at once. We cap it where the promise stays physically true. The first 25 Concierge seats lock the founding rate.

Founding cohort of 125 households signed on. 125 by September 24th puts the patrol on the road October 1st.
First 125 households lock $98/mo through 2027. Nothing is charged until launch. Signing on by September 24th is what puts the vehicle on the road October 1st.
Targeting October 1st. A marked XA SUV and uniformed guard, every night from 7 pm to 7 am. Randomized routes, GPS logged, past your front door and down your back lane.
Lawn sign, hotline number, the neighbourhood patrol channel, and your first weekly digest showing every pass at your address.
When 125 founding households have signed on. Reaching 125 by September 24th puts the vehicle on the road for the October 1st target; if the threshold lands later, the launch date shifts with it. We don't collect payment until launch, so if the neighbourhood never reaches 125, nothing is ever charged.
Honesty. 125 households funds a vehicle for the twelve hours when nearly all of Upper Mount Royal's property crime happens. As more households sign on, coverage grows to 18 hours a day and then 24/7, and every expansion is announced in the member digest. We would rather tell you exactly what the money buys than promise 24/7 and thin it out.
Hours. Every household that signs on buys the whole street more coverage, and response gets faster as the patrol spends more time in the neighbourhood. That's why members get a lawn sign: recruiting the house next door is the single most effective security upgrade you can make.
Everyone gets the patrol; Concierge is the high-touch layer on top, and its promises break if we oversell them. Concierge means your guard is your alarm company's first call, knows your home in detail, and breaks route for you. One guard can only honour that for so many homes at once, so each patrol route carries at most 50 Concierge homes alongside its Porchlight members, and only the first 25 seats get the founding rate. That scarcity is also why it's worth $199.
Porchlight: during patrol hours, the guard is already in the neighbourhood and responds right away, with a target of under 5 minutes. They verify the property, secure it, and call 911 themselves if there's an active intrusion. Concierge: your alarm company lists XA as its first call. We work alongside your existing alarm subscription. We just answer it in person.
No. Month-to-month, cancel with 30 days notice. The founding rate of $98/mo (Concierge $199/mo) is locked through 2027 as long as your membership stays active.
Porchlight ($98/mo) is the always-on membership: nightly patrol, response, hotline, GPS log. Vacation Watch ($89-$2,400 per trip) is for when you're away: daily exterior checks with photo reports. Members get 4 days included per year plus 20% off all trips; Concierge includes 28 days.
Community Safety Guards: licensed, trained, paid above market, and held to high expectations, because a premium service is only ever as good as the people running it. The patrol fleet is electric: quiet on your streets at 3 am, which is the point.
